Samarinda Islamic Center Mosque

Samarinda Islamic Center Mosque is a mosque located in Teluk Lerong Ulu village, Samarinda City, East Kalimantan, Indonesia, which is the grandest and second largest mosque in Southeast Asia after Istiqlal Mosque. With the foreground in the form of the banks of the Mahakam river, this mosque has a large tower and dome that stands upright.

This mosque has a main building area of 43,500 square meters. The supporting building area is 7,115 square meters and the basement floor area is 10,235 square meters. While the ground floor of the mosque is 10,270 square meters and the main floor is 8,185 square meters. While the mezzanine floor area (balcony) is 5,290 square meters. This location was previously a former sawmill area belonging to PT Inhutani I which was later granted to the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan.

This mosque building has 7 towers where the main tower is 99 meters high which means Asmaul Husna or the names of Allah, the number is 99. The main tower consists of a 15-story building with an average height of 6 meters. Meanwhile, there are 33 stairs from the ground floor to the main floor of the mosque. This amount is deliberately equated with one-third the number of beads.

In addition to the main tower, this building also has 6 minarets on the sides of the mosque. Each of the 4 in each corner of the mosque is 70 meters high and 2 towers at the gate are 57 meters high. These six towers also mean the 6 pillars.
