TRAP OF PLEASURE

ﷲ سبحانه و تعالى has determined sustenance for each of his servants, what is a person's sustenance will not be possible to fall into the hands of others and will not decrease in the slightest.

He accepts it in its entirety before death meets him, the sustenance is not only in the form of wealth but also health, free time, pious children, a good household and all the blessings both visible and invisible, both big and small are all sustenance .

And sustenance other than wealth is better or more valuable for those who are pious. The Prophet said: "There is nothing wrong with the wealth of the pious, health is better than wealth for the pious, the goodness of the soul is part of the blessings ﷲ."

Therefore, one should not sacrifice something that is far more valuable than wealth, but not a few people who sacrifice religion, faith and the goodness of their souls just to get worldly treasures by forgetting the hereafter.

Lack of wealth should not make us forget to be grateful to Him for various favors that are far more valuable than worldly treasures and we should make these assets as a means of realizing sustenance that is far more valuable, namely piety to Him.

So if we see someone who is wallowing in disobedience and sin but his sustenance seems to be running smoothly, we must be alert and realize that it is part of Istidraj (It is a punishment in the form of pleasure).

The Prophet said: "If you see giving the servant of the things of the world that he wants even though he continues to be in disobedience to him, know that it is Istidraj or a trap in the form of favors that has been hastened from ﷲ سبحانه و تعالى".

When someone has fun with the various facilities they get more and more and other facilities are opened so that they forget that it is a pleasure trap.

Allah says in the Qur'an Surah Al-An'am verse 44:

فَلَمَّا نَسُوا۟ مَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَٰبَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَآ أُوتُوٓا۟ أَخَذْنَٰهُم بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْلِسُونَ

"So when they forgot the warning that had been given to them, We also opened all the doors of pleasure for them; so that when they rejoice with what has been given to them, We will suddenly punish them, then they will be silent in despair."

On the other hand, if we see a servant performing various obediences to , his sustenance is mediocre, we should realize that Allah has willed that he will get a much more valuable pleasure in the hereafter perfectly.

May Allah guide us to be a servant who is always good at being grateful for any and no matter how much blessings he has been given to us.

"There's no need to worry when we hold our sustenance in obedience, but be afraid when we make things easy, even when we wallow in immorality"
