BETWEEN DREAMS & HOPE

At the time of the Prophet , between the Muslims and the People of the Book there had been pride in each other.

People of the Book said "Our Prophet came before your Prophet, and our Book was revealed before your Book."

Muslims say "Our Prophets are the ultimate prophets, and our Book abolishes the former us."

Then it was revealed to the Prophet one verse in the Qur'an Surah An-Nisa Verse 123

لَّيْسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلَآ أَمَانِىِّ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ ۗ مَن يَعْمَلْ سُوٓءًا يُجْزَ بِهِۦ وَلَا يَجِدْ لَهُۥ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا

"(The reward from Allah) is not according to your empty imagination and not (also) according to the imagination of the People of the Book. Whoever does evil, will surely be recompensed with that crime and he has no protector and no helper for him other than Allah."

This verse teaches us not to be lulled by sweet dreams or empty dreams, wishful thinking is an illusion or delusion and is one of the tools or devices used by Satan to mislead mankind.

As in the word ﷲ سبحانه و تعالى Surah An-Nisa verse 119

وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْ وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ وَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ ءَاذَانَ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ وَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يَتَّخِذِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ وَلِيًّا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ خَسِرَ خُسْرَانًا مُّبِينًا

"And I will indeed lead them astray, and will arouse empty dreams in them and command them (to cut off the ears of livestock), then they will actually cut them off, and I will order them (to change Allah's creation), then really they changed it.” Whoever makes Satan a protector other than Allah, then indeed he suffers a real loss.“

According to the commentators, wishful thinking is reprehensible and denounced by religion because it causes two evils, namely greed or greed and wanting to be eternal in the world.

Because of the nature of greed, a person can justify all ambitions to achieve his desires, because he feels eternal in the world, a person can forget himself and do not need to repent and will not affect him advice or advice.

Different wishful thinking with hope, hope is an attitude of optimism waiting for something loved to come, hope is distinguished from wishful thinking from four aspects:

1. Hope refers to something that is possible and could happen.
2. It is clear why and the ways in which this hope can be achieved.
3. Hope creates a strong drive and motivation to work.
4. Hope creates dynamics and productivity in life, both in thinking and acting.

Without meeting these four criteria any form of desire cannot be called hope, but rather wishful thinking or wishful thinking.

Referring to these criteria, the person who plants the seed of faith in his heart then waters it with water of obedience, cleanses himself of various despicable behaviors and is consistent in goodness, then hopes that he will receive mercy and forgiveness from Him, then that person's hope is truly is a laudable hope.

On the other hand, people who immerse themselves in sin and disobedience to , but he hopes to get heaven, then his hopes are certainly rejected.

The Messenger of Allah once called people who do this as mentally retarded people, saying that he is a dwarf and a fool is a person who follows his lustful impulses but he expects heaven from .

So we must be able to choose and sort out which dreams and hopes.

“Hope is like a lamp, which allows us to see what lies ahead. But whether we get to the front or not, it depends on whether we want to walk or not.”
