Happy to Welcoming Ramadan, One of the Forms of Faith

One of the signs of faith is that a Muslim is happy to welcome Ramadan. It's like welcoming a great guest he's been waiting for, so he prepares everything and of course the heart becomes very happy that Ramadan guests will come. Of course, he would be happier if he met Ramadan.

A Muslim should be worried about himself if there is no feeling of joy for the coming of Ramadan. It felt normal and nothing special. It could be that he escaped from the many good. Because this is a gift from Allah and a Muslim should rejoice.

Allah said,

ﻗُﻞْ ﺑِﻔَﻀْﻞِ ﺍﻟﻠّﻪِ ﻭَﺑِﺮَﺣْﻤَﺘِﻪِ ﻓَﺒِﺬَﻟِﻚَ ﻓَﻠْﻴَﻔْﺮَﺣُﻮﺍْ ﻫُﻮَ ﺧَﻴْﺮٌ ﻣِّﻤَّﺎ ﻳَﺠْﻤَﻌُﻮﻥَ

"Say: 'By Allah's bounty and His mercy, let them rejoice. The bounty of Allah and His mercy is better than what they collect." (Surat Yunus [10]: 58).

See how the scholars and pious people miss and are happy when Ramadan is coming. Ibn Rajab Al-Hambali said,

“Some of the salaf said, 'In the past they (the salaf) prayed to Allah for six months so that they would be reunited with Ramadan. Then they also prayed for six months that Allah would accept them (the good deeds in the last Ramadan).“[1]

Why Should You Be Happy Welcoming Ramadan?

The joy is due to the many glories, blessings, and virtues in the month of Ramadan. Worship is more delicious and delicious to pray to Allah

Good news about the coming of Ramadan as in the following hadith.

"Ramadan has come to you, a blessed month. Allah has made it obligatory for you to fast on him. Heaven's doors were opened to him. The doors of Jahim (Hell) are closed. The demons are shackled. In it is a night that is better than 1000 months. Whoever is prevented from doing good, then indeed he is hindered."[2]

Scholars explain that this hadith shows we should rejoice with the arrival of Ramadan.

Shaykh Salih Al-Fauzan explained,

ﻫﺬﺍ ﺍﻟﺤﺪﻳﺚ ﺑﺸﺎﺭﺓ ﻟﻌﺒﺎﺩ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺍﻟﺼﺎﻟﺤﻴﻦ ﺑﻘﺪﻭﻡ ﺷﻬﺮ ﺭﻣﻀﺎﻥ ؛ ﻷﻥ ﺍﻟﻨﺒﻲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ﺃﺧﺒﺮ ﺍﻟﺼﺤﺎﺑﺔ ﺭﺿﻲ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻬﻢ ﺑﻘﺪﻭﻣﻪ ، ﻭﻟﻴﺲ ﻫﺬﺍ ﺇﺧﺒﺎﺭﺍً ﻣﺠﺮﺩﺍً ، ﺑﻞ ﻣﻌﻨﺎﻩ : ﺑﺸﺎﺭﺗﻬﻢ ﺑﻤﻮﺳﻢ ﻋﻈﻴﻢ

‏( ﺃﺣﺎﺩﻳﺚ ﺍﻟﺼﻴﺎﻡ .. ﻟﻠﻔﻮﺯﺍﻥ ﺹ 13 ‏)

ﺃﺗﻰ ﺭﻣﻀﺎﻥ ﺍﻟﺬﻱ ﺗﻔﺘﺢ ﻓﻴﻪ ﺃﺑﻮﺍﺏ ﺍﻟﺠﻨﺔ ، ﻭ

"This hadith is good news for the pious servant of Allah with the arrival of Ramadan. Because the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam gave news to his companions radhiallahu 'anhum about the coming of Ramadan. This is not just news, but its meaning is to rejoice with the arrival of a great moment.“[3]

Ibn Rajab Al-Hambali explained,

ﻛﻴﻒ ﻻ ﻳﺒﺸﺮ ﺍﻟﻤﺆﻣﻦ ﺑﻔﺘﺢ ﺃﺑﻮﺍﺏ ﺍﻟﺠﻨﺎﻥ ﻛﻴﻒ ﻻ ﻳﺒﺸﺮ ﺍﻟﻤﺬﻧﺐ ﺑﻐﻠﻖ ﺃﺑﻮﺍﺏ ﺍﻟﻨﻴﺮﺍﻥ ﻛﻴﻒ ﻻ ﻳﺒﺸﺮ ﺍﻟﻌﺎﻗﻞ ﺑﻮﻗﺖ ﻳﻐﻞ ﻓﻴﻪ ﺍﻟﺸﻴﺎﻃﻴﻦ ﻣﻦ ﺃﻳﻦ ﻳﺸﺒﻪ ﻫﺬﺍ ﺍﻟﺰﻣﺎﻥ ﺯﻣﺎﻥ

"How can you not be happy? a believer is given the good news of the opening of the gates of heaven. The gates of hell are closed. How can a reasonable person not rejoice when he is told of a time in which the devils are bound. From which side there is a time equal to this time (Ramadan).[4]

Note: Dhaif Hadith Regarding the Joy of Welcoming Ramadan

There is a hadith that mentions being happy to welcome Ramadan, but the hadith by some scholars is considered weak and even maudhu '(false).

ﻣَﻦْ ﻓَﺮِﺡَ ﺑِﺪُﺧُﻮﻝِ ﺭَﻣَﻀَﺎﻥَ ﺣَﺮَّﻡَ ﺍﻟﻠﻪُ ﺟَﺴَﺪَﻩُ ﻋَﻠﻰَ ﺍﻟﻨِّﻴْﺮَﺍﻥِ

"Whoever rejoices with the entry of the month of Ramadan, Allah will forbid his body to go to hell. (This narration of history is mentioned in the book Durrat An-Nasihin)

After starting with a feeling of joy in welcoming Ramadan, the next stage is preparation for welcoming Ramadan so that the Ramadan we run can be maximized.

So hopefully useful
