As someone who lives in a Muslim environment, of course, we hear the call to prayer every day, at least five times a day. Adhan is a call from Allah for us to leave the activity we are doing and immediately get ready to pray. But there are still many of us who still often ignore it and are still busy with their respective activities.
In fact, when we ignore the sound of the call to prayer, we are getting closer to His torment. It is narrated in a hadith that the Prophet SAW said, "You should be silent when the call to prayer, otherwise Allah will touch his tongue when death comes to him". The following will describe some etiquette when hearing the call to prayer, so that later you will not get a loss.
- Say what the muezzin says.
- Shalawat to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam: Allahumma sholli 'ala Muhammad
- Ask Allah for Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam wasilah.
- Reading: Ashhadu alla ilaha illallah wahdahu laa syarika lah wa anna muhammadan 'abduhu wa Rasuluh, radhitu billahi robbaa wa bi muhammadin rosulaa wa bil islami diinaa.
- Say a prayer as desired. Because there is an efficacious prayer between the adhan and iqamah.
The evidence for practice number one to three is mentioned in the hadith of 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al 'Ash, he said that he heard the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,
"If you hear the muezzin, then say what the muezzin says. Then pray for me. Because whoever prays to me once, Allah will bless him (forgive him) ten times. Then ask Allah for wasilah for me. Since wasilah is a place in heaven reserved only for Allah's servants, I hope I am the one who gets it. Whoever asks me to do such a wasilah, he is the one who is entitled to my intercession." (HR. Muslim no. 384).
As for asking Allah for Wasilah for the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam mentioned in the hadith of Jabir bin Abdillah, Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,
"Whoever says after hearing the call to prayer 'allahumma robba hadzihid da'watit taammah wash prayeril qoo-imah, aati Muhammadanil wasilata wal fadhilah, wab'atshu maqoomam mahmuuda allazi wa 'adtah' [O Allah, Lord of the owner of this perfect da'wah (dawah of monotheism), If the prayer is upheld, give Muhammad wasilah (a high position), and fadilah (another noble position). And raise him so that he can occupy the commendable maqom (position) that You have promised him], then he will get my intercession later.." (HR. Bukhari no. 614)
There is also practice after listening to the call to prayer if it is practiced it will get forgiveness from sins. From Sa'ad bin Abi Waqqash, from the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,
"Who says after hearing the call to prayer: Ashhadu alla ilaha illallah wahdahu laa syarika lah wa anna muhammadan 'abduhu wa Rasuluh, radhitu billahi robbaa wa bi muhammadin rosulaa wa bil islami diinaa (meaning: I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah, no has partners for him, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, I am pleased as my Lord, Muhammad as the Messenger and Islam as my religion), then his sins will be forgiven.." (HR. Muslim no. 386)
From 'Abdullah bin 'Amr that someone once said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the muezzin always outperform us in the reward of deeds. Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,
"Say it as the muezzin says. Then when the call to prayer is finished, pray, it will be granted (accepted)."(Narrated by Abu Daud no. 524 and Ahmad 2: 172. Al Hafizh Abu Thohir said that this hadith hasan). That is, the prayer after the call to prayer is one of the accepted prayers.
After mentioning the five practices above, Ibn al-Qayyim said, "These are five practices that can be practiced day and night. Remember that the only one who can keep it up is as saabiquun, that is, those who are passionate about goodness.” (Jalaa-ul Afham, Thing. 333).
Let's practice it even though it's simple, the important thing is routine and istiqamah. Only Allah gives taufik and guidance.
