Forgiveness is the biggest door to the creation of mutual love between fellow human beings. Islam teaches that every Muslim should always forgive each other. Forgiving is also one of the qualities possessed by مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Rasulullah always forgives people who hate and hurt their feelings. Humans never escape from mistakes, because of that الله سبحانه وتعالى really glorifies people who are willing to forgive the mistakes of others, including the courage of people to apologize for the mistakes they have made, because the latter often loses to the ego. Even الله سبحانه وتعالى has prepared a myriad of rewards for these people.
The word forgiveness is a deliberate decision to let go of feelings of irritation or revenge against someone or a group who has hurt them, regardless of whether or not they deserve the apology, then understanding the meaning of forgiveness is different from simply accepting an apology.
There are at least five virtues when we make the decision to forgive, this does not mean ignoring the mistakes that have been made:
- Forgiveness is able to bring peace, meaning that there is no more anxiety for both parties.
- Forgiveness can free yourself from the anger that slowly eats away at happiness.
- Forgiveness will be able to repair a relationship that may have previously been damaged.
- Forgiveness is able to release negative feelings within ourselves so that we can learn to recognize the pain that is there without any resentment that is triggered by the pain.
- Forgiveness can heal wounds and learn to move on with life.
From these five virtues, the day of victory will become a momentum to forgive each other, forgive both physically and spiritually so that Syawal, which literally means the month of increasing good deeds, is truly felt by mankind on this earth.
That's why Apologizing for mistakes is courage, a commendable attitude and forgiveness is a noble attitude, these two attitudes need to be continuously nurtured so that there will be no more hatred and grudges between each other. These two things often make the unity and unity of the ummah increasingly difficult to realize also because apologizing and being easy to forgive are closer to Taqwa.
As in His Word "And forgiving for the mistakes of that person is closer to Taqwa".
From here, Shaum is a full month in this month of Ramadan whose goal is to become a person of Taqwa more complete and realized by forgiving each other.
"Ramadan teaches us how الله سبحانه وتعالى forgives our sins and mistakes, so that is what we do with others..."
