In the book I'anatuth-Thalibin Chapter Luqatah by Abu Bakr bin Muhammad Syatha Ad-Dimyati, told a story of a friend who made the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wa sallam shed tears.
It was Abu Dujanah Radhiallahu'anhu, a friend of the Prophet from the Khazraj tribe who made the Prophet cry. Besides being known to be brave on the battlefield, Abu Dujanah is also a person who really protects himself and his family from haram things. One day, after the Fajr prayer in congregation with the Prophet, Abu Dujanah was always in a hurry to go home without following the prayers offered by the Prophet. The Prophet tried to find out the cause of Abu Dujanah's habit.
"O Abu Dujanah, don't you have a request that you need to make in the presence of Allah so that you often leave the mosque before I finish praying?" he asked.
Abu Dujanah replied, "This is the Messenger of Allah," said Abu Dujanah, starting his story.
“Our house is right next to a man's house. Above the yard of our neighbor's house, there is a palm tree towering, its branches hanging down to our house. Every time the wind blows at night, my neighbor's dates fall on each other, landing on our house."
"O Messenger of Allah, we are a family of the poor. My son is often hungry. When our children wake up, whatever they get, they eat. Therefore, after finishing the prayer, we rushed home before our children woke up from their sleep. We collect the dates belonging to our neighbors that are scattered in the house, then we return them to their owners."
Abu Dujanah then recounted that once his son was caught eating a date that fell from his neighbor's tree. So, he tried his best to remove the dates that had been eaten earlier from his son's mouth.
"Son, don't embarrass your father in the afterlife." My son was crying, both pairs of eyelids were watering because he was so hungry.
O Messenger of Allah, we said back to my son, "Until your life is released, I will not be willing to leave the forbidden treasure in your stomach. I will remove all the contents of the forbidden stomach and I will return it with the other dates to its rightful owner." Hearing the story, the eyes of the Prophet ️ﷺ teary eyed, the tears of his noble tears flowed so profusely. The Prophet Muhammad tried to find out who actually owned the date palm tree that Abu Dujanah was referring to. Abu Dujanah also said that the date palm belonged to a hypocritical man.
The Prophet immediately went to the owner of the date palm that was told by Abu Dujanah. The Apostle then said, "Can you sell the date palm tree? I'll buy it with a tree worth 10 times. The tree was made of blue emeralds, studded with red gold, the stems of white pearls. There is an angel who is beautiful and beautiful according to the count of the available dates." said the Prophet offered.
This hypocrite man then answered firmly, “I have never traded using the maturity system. I don't want to sell anything but cash and want to be paid right away."
Suddenly Abu Bakr as-Siddiq came. Then he said, "Well, I bought ten times as much as your date palms whose species are not available in this city (better types)."
The hypocrite was overjoyed as he said: "Yeah, I'm selling it."
Abu Bakr replied, "Good, I bought it." After agreeing, Abu Bakr immediately handed over the date palm to Abu Dujanah.
The Messenger of Allah then said, "O Abu Bakr, I will pay for it for you."
Hearing the words of the Prophet, Abu Bakr was overjoyed. So did Abu Dujanah. While the hypocrite walked to his wife. Then he told him what had just happened.
“I have made a lot of profit today. I got ten nicer date palms. Even though the dates that I sell are still in my yard. I will still eat it first and I will never give the fruit to our neighbor at all."
That night, when the hypocrite was sleeping, and woke up in the morning, suddenly the date palm that he owned changed position, standing on the land belonging to Abu Dujanah. And it was as if the tree had never been seen growing on the hypocrite's land. The place where the tree had grown from, is currently level with the ground. It is an incomparable surprise.
Thus the story of the friend and the date palm tree that made the Prophet cry. The lesson we learn from this story is that friends are careful to protect themselves and their families from haram food. Then the date palm that moved its position was one of the miracles of the Prophet ️ﷺ which was immediately felt by Abu Dujanah's friend.
