And among the things that are denied is holding a special prayer on the first day of the new year, which is often called the "Early Year Prayer". And this has been denied by experts in science, including:
- Abu Syamah Rahimahullah said: "There is no single argument about the early nights of the month of Muharram" 1
- Shaykh Bakr Abu Zaid Rahimahullah said: “There is no valid argument in this shari'a regarding dhikr or special prayers at the beginning of the new year, namely the first day or first night of the month of Muharram. And many people make up special prayers and dhikr that have absolutely no evidence.”2
- Jamaluddin Al-Qosimiy Rahimahullah said about the prayer that was made up at the beginning of the year: "It was a prayer that was made up, there was no suggestion from the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam, his companions, and also the tabi'in radhiyallahu' anhum, it is not written in musnad books, not even in fake hadith books."
And Jamaluddin Al-Qosimiy Rahimahullah quotes interesting words from Imam Al-'Izz bin Abdussalam Rahimahullah: "Doing something good must be in accordance with the shari'ah of the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam, so if we know that something is a lie ( on the Prophet sallallahu'alaihi wasallam) then this is not part of the Shari'at.” 3
And there are also other wrong things that are done before reading the prayers at the beginning of the year, namely praying 10 cycles of prayer, and in each cycle reading the verse of the chair and Al-Ikhlas each is read 10 times. And these things have no evidence in our Shari'ah.
