Among the new things that are invented at the new Hijriyah year is specializing in discussing the migration of the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam and also his siroh at the beginning of each new Hijri year in sermons or lectures.
There are also several families who gather while preparing several dishes at each new hijriyah year, and before they eat they start by reciting the siroh Rasulullah sallallahu'alaihi wasallam and the story about the migration to Medina.
To the extent that some ordinary people think that specializing this theme at the beginning of the new year is sunnah, some even think that it is obligatory.
And without a doubt, this is a practice that is muhdats (made up) and is rejected for several reasons:
- This was not atsar from the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam, and also from his companions.
- Doing this means doing things that have never been done by friends, even though their friends are the people who love the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam the most and are most enthusiastic about following his instructions.
- The determination of the beginning of the Hijriyah year was not determined by the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam, who determined that the Companions were only limited to setting the Hijri year.
- The Hijrah event of the Prophet shallallahu'alaihi wasallam was not in the month of Muharram, even Ibn Ishaq stated that the Prophet shallallahu'alaihi wasallam left Mecca at the beginning of the month of Rabi'ul Awwal.
