From here the worship of shaum has multifunction, there are at least three main functions of fasting: tazhib, ta'dib and tadrib. Shaum is a means to direct or (tahzib), to form the characteristics of the soul (ta'dib), as well as a medium of training to strive to become a perfect and perfect human being (tadrib), which essentially leads to the ultimate goal, namely taqwa. Taqwa in a more general sense is carrying out all orders ﷲ and leave all His prohibitions. Piety and social piety are two faces of the same coin which are integral and inseparable.
There is a kind of mental rule that love arises from pain, herein lies the great social secret of the wisdom of fasting, clearly and accurately Islam forbids all forms of worship. food, drink, sexual activity, heart disease and speech enter the stomach and soul of the person who is Shaum. From hunger and thirst how we can feel those who are on the poverty line, poor humans who are under bridges or the homeless who are often covered in cold at night or burned by the hot sun during the day.
This is a system of practical ways to practice compassion, human soul and conscience, is there a most effective way to practice love? Don't we know that there are always two interrelated systems the sight and the blind, the scholar and the layman. If love is created between the rich who are hungry and the poor who are hungry, then a strand of humanity's wisdom will be realized.
People who have and whose heart is always honed with shaum, then the ears of his soul hear the voice of the poor moaning, he does not immediately hear it as the voice of supplicants of hope but a request for something that must be welcomed, people who have will interpret it all for sincere dedication, "iimaanan wa ihtisaaban." All because ﷲ , because He alone is the owner of all.
