When Farewell Arrives

Ramadan has left us, of course there are many good things that have been done, but what is important to note is whether everything that is practiced in Ramadan in the form of worship and pious deeds that are so lightly carried out can be maintained and even strengthened and sharpened in the months after Ramadan.

This is a super important question so that the title of Taqwa is not only attached to the time of Ramadan, but throughout the year until we meet again with Ramadan the following year, even until we meet Divine Robbi.

Verily, the most honorable of you in the sight of Allah الله سبحانه وتعالى is the one who is most pious among you, verily Allah is All-Knowing, All-Knowing. In other words, the essence, target or important achievement that must be maintained after being achieved with various acts of worship and goodness is none other than piety itself.

Al-Quran provides many concrete explanations about how pious people are in their lives, including as described in Surah Al-Baqarah 177, such as having faith in Allah, the Last Day, then Angels, Books and Prophets, then giving wealth he loves to his close relatives, orphans, the poor, people who are abandoned on the way, beggars, and frees slaves, establish prayers, pay zakat, keep promises when promised, be patient with poverty, harm, and when he is in poverty. on the battlefield.

Those are the qualities of a pious person, all these practices of course should not stop in Ramadan alone, but must be attempted to be practiced in other months. Even though in terms of reward calculation, of course, Ramadan is much more rewarding than it is done in other months.

However, the spirit to maintain the characteristics of piety in oneself must be strived for throughout the year and throughout life, the problem that is not easy is that once Ramadan goes away, socially religious nuances immediately disperse and then disappear, here many people forget their goodness in Ramadan, worship slowly slackens, and temptations. to violate his orders is getting stronger so that if Ramadan is strong worship outside of Ramadan his Islamic commitment will decrease.

Here taqwa gets a test that is not light, if it is traced why the Prophet, his companions and previous scholars cried when they were about to part with Ramadan, none other than because maintaining taqwa in a month other than Ramadan is really not easy.

It is interesting to see the conversation between Umar bin Khattab and Ubay bin Ka'ab radhiallahu 'anhuma, Ubay asked Umar about the meaning of taqwa, the second caliph instead asked:
"Have you ever walked in a place full of thorns?", Ubay bin Ka'ab replied "Yes, ever", "What are you doing?" Umar said, "Of course I was very careful going through it" Ubay bin Ka'ab replied, then Umar said "That's called taqwa“.

Pursue and collect as we wish what is in this world, but remember, our shroud has no pockets...
