Central Java Grand Mosque

Only those who prosper the mosques of Allah are those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and continue to establish prayer, pay zakat and do not fear (of anyone) other than Allah, then they are the ones who are expected to be among the people. the one who got the hint

QS. At-Taubah : 18

Like two sides of a coin, discussing the Great Mosque of Central Java cannot be separated from the Great Mosque of Kauman Semarang. Why? Yes, because the Great Mosque of Central Java exists because of the Great Mosque of Kauman Semarang. Here's the story, the Kauman Grand Mosque on Jalan Alon-alon Barat Kauman Semarang has a Banda Masjid land area of 119,1270 hectares which is managed by the Mosque Welfare Agency (BKM), an organization formed by the Department of Islamic Affairs (Urais) of the Ministry of Religion.

On the grounds that the 119,1270 land area was unproductive, BKM exchanged bolsters (ruislag) for 250 hectares of land in Demak Regency through PT. Sambirejo. From PT. Sambirejo then moved to PT. Tens Indo Tjipto Siswojo. Long story short, the ruilslag process did not go smoothly, some of the land in Demak turned out to be sea, river, grave, and so on. As a result, Tanah Banda, the Great Mosque of Kauman Semarang, disappeared, because it was managed by evil and untrustworthy humans.

Through legal channels from the Semarang District Court to the Cassation at the Supreme Court, the Kauman Great Mosque (BKM) always loses. Finally, it was agreed to form an Integrated Team led by the Regional National Stability Coordination Agency (Bakorstanasda) Central Java / Kodam IV Diponegoro. At that time Pangdam IV / Diponegoro was held by Major General TNI Mardiyanto (who eventually became Governor of Central Java Province and Minister of Home Affairs). This team was initially led by Colonel Bambang Soediarto, then continued by Colonel Art Slamet Prayitno, the Head of the Kesbanglinmas Agency of Central Java Province at that time.

On Friday Legi, December 17, 1999, after Friday prayers at the Great Mosque of Kauman, thousands of Muslims intended to give pressure to Tjipto Siswojo to hand over the lands back to the mosque. They did a long march from the Great Mosque of Kauman to Tjipto Siswojo's house on Jalan Branjangan 22-23, Semarang's Old Town area.

Finally, through a long and tedious process, Tjipto Siswojo agreed to hand over the certificates of the lands to the mosque. Even though when he handed it over, Tjipto admitted that it wasn't because of pressure from anyone, but that the public already believed that Tjipto had given up his property because pressure the people of Friday leg of December 17th. Then an Integrated Team was formed with the Chairman Colonel Bambang Soediarto (from Kodam IV/Diponegoro) and Secretary Slamet Prayitno (Head of the Central Java Kesbanglinmas Agency).

It is quite difficult to write who was the most instrumental and played a role in the process of restoring the lost mosque bandha. Because quite a lot of people are involved and play a role in carrying out their duties according to their respective fields of duties and responsibilities. All of them are trying to work hand in hand on how to restore the mosque's bandha that has been lost for years.

However, I remember very well that in the early period the most intense efforts to restore the lost land of the Banda Mosque, among others; KH MA Sahal Mahfudh (then Chairman of the Central Java MUI), Drs H Ali Mufiz MPA (at that time the Chairman of the Central Java MUI/Lecturer of Fisip Undip Semarang. Then he became Deputy Governor of Central Java in pairs with H Mardiyanto. Ali Mufiz was sworn in on 28 September 2007 became Governor of Central Java because H Mardiyanto became Minister of Home Affairs), Dr H Noor Achmad, MA (a member of the Central Java DPRD/at that time Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Youth and Youth Coordination Agency BKPRMI Central Java), and Drs HM Chabib Thoha MA (General Secretary of the Java MUI Central eventually became the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of Central Java). They gather almost every day at the Central Java MUI Office (north of the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque) Simpanglima Semarang. As a journalist myself, I have the task of continuing to publicize the movement of the people in an effort to restore the lost mosque bandhas. Thank God we were able to record all of these activities in the form of a book “Tracking the Lost Mosque Bandha”.

The people's movement continued like a tit for tat. The Kauman community along with all its elements continue to fight for the mosque's bandha lands to return. KH Turmudzi Taslim AlHafidz (deceased), KH Hanief Ismail Lc, H Hasan Thoha Putra MBA, Ir H Hammad Maksum, H Muhaimin S.Sos and others were some of the names that encouraged the movement. Meanwhile, through the spiritual movement of Drs KH Dzikron Abdullah, KH Amdjat AlHafidz, KH Kharis Shodaqoh, KH Muhaimin, KH Masruri Mughni provided support through other channels.

Going through politics is no less exciting. The discussion at the Berlian Building of the DPRD of Central Java Province about the bandha of the mosque was very intense. The chairman of the Central Java DPRD H Mardijo at that time led the plenary session. KH Achmad Thoyfoer MC (deceased) Drs KH Ahmad Darodji MSi, Drs H Istajib AS, Dr H Noor Achmad MA, H Abdul Kadir Karding Spi, Drs H Hisyam Alie, and many other names who all support efforts to restore the mosque bandha, Masya Allah , Subhan Allah.

The role of print and electronic journalists should not be taken lightly. Almost every day Suara Merdeka Daily, Sovereignty of the People, Daily Sore Insights, Kompas, Jawa Pos and others report on the hunt for missing mosque bandhas.

Almost all government agencies are also actively involved. These include the Regional Secretary for Central Java Province, Kesbanglinmas, the National Land Agency (BPN), the High Court, the Central Java Police, the Regional Military Command IV/Diponegoro, the Ministry of Religion, and the Semarang City Government.

Of the 119,1270 hectares of land in Banda, the Kauman Grand Mosque, Semarang that were lost, only 69.2 hectares were found. The climax was on Saturday, July 8, 2000 in the Plenary Room of the DPRD of Central Java Province, Jalan Pahlawan Semarang, Tjipto Siswojo handed over a land certificate covering an area of 69.2 hectares to Pangdam IV/Diponegoro/Chairman of Central Java Bakorstanasda Maj. Gen. TNI Bibit Waluyo (substitute for Major General Mardiyanto) to the Governor of Central Java. Mardiyanto (replaces H. Soewardi). Bibit Waluyo then became Governor of Central Java for the period 2008-2013.

The Governor of Central Java, Mardiyanto, has a brilliant idea. As tetenger or a sign of the return of the lost Land of Banda Masjid, of the 69.2 hectares, 10 hectares were taken on Jalan Gajah Raya, Sambirejo Village, Gayamsari District, Semarang City to build a mosque. On November 28, 2001, the Great Mosque of Central Java Architectural Design Competition was held. The winner is PT. Atelier Six Bandung led by Ir. H. Ahmad Fanani.

On Friday, September 6, 2002, the Minister of Religion Prof. Dr. KH. Said Agil Al-Munawar, General Chairperson of the Central MUI KH MA Sahal Mahfudh and Central Java Governor H. Mardiyanto planted the first pillars for the construction of the Central Java Grand Mosque. The day before, Thursday night, September 5, 2002, 200 hafiz from all over Central Java and Asmaul Husna led by KH. Amdjad Al Hafiz. It was originally planned to cost Rp 30 billion. Central Java Governor H Mardiyanto at the inauguration ceremony said the total construction cost was Rp. 198,692,340,000. However, in its development, according to the Deputy Chairperson of the Central Java Grand Mosque Management Agency, Dr. H Noor Achmad MA, the costs continued to increase until they reached Rp. 230 Billion.

Indonesian President Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) inaugurated the Central Java Grand Mosque (MAJT) on Tuesday 14 November 2006M/23 Shawwal 1427H at 20.00. The inauguration was marked by the signing of a stone inscription as high as 3.2 meters and weighing 7.8 tons. The stone is a natural stone specially taken from the slopes of Mount Merapi, Magelang Regency. The inscription was carved by Nyoman M. Alim who is also believed to have made a miniature of the Borobudur temple which was placed in Minimundus Vienna Austria in 2001. President SBY was then accompanied by KH Habib Lutfi bin Ali Yahya, KH. MA Sahal Mahfudh, Minister of Religion Maftuh Basyuni and a number of Ministers of the United Indonesia Cabinet, Governor of Central Java H Mardiyanto and Deputy Governor Drs H Ali Mufiz MPA performed sunnah prayers at MAJT.

CENTRAL JAVA'S GREAT MOSQUE

If asked, what is the specialty of the Great Mosque of Central Java (MAJ)? The answer is a lot. All the details in MAJT in my opinion are special compared to mosque buildings in Indonesia, even the world. The land area alone is spectacular: 10 hectares. Area of Main Building or Main Building for Prayer : 7,669m. The main building consists of two floors, the first floor for male worshipers, the second floor for female worshipers. The main room capacity is estimated to be able to accommodate 6,000 worshipers. Inside the main building is equipped with four Minarets each 62 meters high. One of the Minarets is equipped with an elevator, namely the Minaret Front (East) Right. The main dome is a semi-circle of cast concrete with a diameter of 20 meters.

The architectural style of the mosque, is a blend of Java, the Middle East (Saudi Arabia) and Greece. Middle Eastern style can be seen from the Dome and its four minarets. The Javanese style can be seen from the shape of the tajugan on the roof under the main dome. While the Greek style is seen on the 25 pillars of the Colosseum guided by very beautiful Arabic calligraphy.

The design philosophy of the Great Mosque of Central Java is the embodiment and historical continuity of the development of Islam in the country. This philosophy is translated in Candrasengkala which is summed up in the sentence "Sucining Use Gapuraning Gusti” which means that the Year of Java 1943 or the Year of Christ 2001 was the year when the realization of the idea of constructing the Great Mosque of Central Java began. Candrasengkala is manifested into an expression of the identity of the Grand Mosque which is magnificent and beautiful, a blend of universal and local cultural elements in Islamic culture.

Next, we enter the mosque plaza. In this plaza there are Banners called Al-Qanathir Gerbang Gate which means "Magnificent and Valuable". Pole on Al-Qanathir Gerbang Gate This number of 25 pieces is a symbol of the 25 prophets of Allah as the guide of the people. On Banners This gate is inscribed with the calligraphy of the sentence Shahada Tauhid "Ashhadu Alla Illa Ha Illallah and the Apostle's Creed"Ashhadu anna Muhammadar Rasulullah". While on a flat plane the letters Pegon reads "Sucining Use Gapuraning Gusti”.

This 7500 square meter mosque plaza is an expansion of the prayer room which can accommodate approximately 10,000 worshipers. Equipped with 6 giant umbrellas that can open and close automatically like the one in the Prophet's mosque in Medina. It is said that in the world there are only two mosques equipped with this kind of electric umbrella. The height of the electric umbrella poles is 20 meters each, while the span (radius) is 14 meters each.

In the main room of the Great Mosque of Central Java, there is a Giant Al-Qur'an (Mushaf Al-Akbar) by Santri Pondok Pesantren Al-Asy'ariyyah Kalibeber, Mojotengah, Wonosobo (Founder: KH. Muntaha AlHafidz). It is called the Al-Akbar Mushaf because of its large size, which is 145 cm x 95 cm. The Koran is now placed in the Museum of Islamic History on the second floor of the Al-Husna Tower of the Great Mosque of Central Java.

Inside the North East part of the Mosque there is also a Giant Bedug by KH. Ahmad Shobri, Tinggarjaya, Jatilawang, Purwokerto Banyumas. Bedug named "BEDUG IJO“Mangunsari was made on 20 Sha'ban 1424 H. Its length is 310 cm. Centerline Front/Back 186 cm. Center line 220 cm Front/back circumference 588 cm. Middle circumference 683 cm. The number of nails 156 pieces. What is special, said Kiai Shobri, is that the hamlet where the drum is made is called Mangunsari from the Arabic Maun Syaar which means help from evil. Made of Waru wood of choice and people say the tree is haunted. The maker must always be in a state of ablution and fasting. Kiai Shobri also made Kentongan Ijo which was placed next to Bedug Ijo.

Under the main building there is a place for ablution for men/women. There are 93 male ablution faucets and 56 female ablution faucets. In the right wing ablution place there are 50 ablution faucets, while in the left wing ablution there are 14. Under the main building there is also the Office of the Management Agency, the Multipurpose Building and the VIP Room with direct access to the Imam's room.

The right wing building is the Convention Hall (auditorium) which can accommodate 2,000 people. While the left wing building is a library which will later be designed to be a modern library "Digital Library”and Office Space Office space for rent, Under the Great Mosque Plaza Central Java is a parking lot that can accommodate 680 cars and 670 motorbikes.

The Great Mosque of Central Java is also equipped with Wisma GRAHA AGUNG with a capacity of 23 rooms for various classes. Pilgrims or visitors who want to spend the night can take advantage of these facilities at a very cheap price. This guesthouse is located in the north eastern part of the mosque.

Another attraction is the AL-HUSNA Tower (Al-Husna Tower). His height is 99 meters according to Al-Asmaul Husna's number. At the base of the tower is the DAIS Radio Studio (Islamic Da'wah). Floors 2 and 3 for the Museum of Islamic Culture. On the 18th floor there is a Muslim cafe that can rotate 360 degrees. While enjoying Islamic dishes and songs, in this cafe you can enjoy the beauty of the city of Semarang. 19th floor for the viewing tower. Equipped with 5 binoculars that can see the view of the city of Semarang. At the beginning of Ramadan 1427 H, for the first time Rukyatul Hilal from the Central Java Rukyah Team used sophisticated binoculars from BOSCA.

Those who want a culinary tour, in the southern part of MAJT (Block C) and in the front/east of the mosque (Blocks A and B) there is a PUJASERA which provides a variety of dishes.

Various spiritual activities at the Great Mosque of Central Java that can be followed by Muslims are SEMAAN ALQURAN every Friday at 11.00-11.45. SUNDAY MORNING REVIEW every Sunday at 07.00-08.00. While the Muezzins are Mohammad Rokhani, Muhammadun Zen and Muhammad Yusuf.
