Starting from the need for worship facilities for the workers of the Tea Plantation owned by PT. Gunung Mas, which is managed by PTPN Nusantara VIII, was built a small and simple mosque in a strategic location. Precisely on the edge of Jalan Raya Puncak, about 88.5 km from the capital city of Jakarta in the Block/Kampung Naringgul, Tugu Selatan Village, Cisarua District, Bogor Regency.
The mosque which was founded in the Tea Plantation area of the Dutch colonial heritage is called the Al-Muttaqien Mosque belonging to PT. GUNUNG MAS and its management are carried out independently by the elders of the tea plantation workers who live close to the location of the Al-Muttaqien Mosque.
In the 1990s, the tiny Al-Muttaqien Mosque was increasingly visited by worshippers, both for fardhu prayers and Friday prayers. The congregation of the mosque is increasing not only from worshipers from the surrounding community, but also pilgrims from outside the city who pass Jalan Raya Puncak which is the transportation axis for Bandung, Cianjur, Bogor, and Jakarta.
The congregations, especially when performing Friday prayers, were forced to jostle for worship because they could no longer be accommodated by the very limited capacity of the mosque. HR Nuriana, Governor of West Java for two terms (1993-1998 and 1998-2003), who is known as a personal figure who always hears the cries of the people's concerns, was finally moved to build a Togetherness Monument (Gotong Royong Plus) in the form of a mosque that is more worthy and representative.
The exuberance of this two-star general, who has the spirit of santri and an exemplary figure who is full of Islamic development ideas, stems from his desire to perpetuate the idea of rereongan sarupi which was successfully managed at that time in West Java in the form of a monument of togetherness/gotong royong which is not only an Islamic noble value but At the same time, it is the personality value of the ancestral heritage of the Indonesian nation which has been crystallized in the philosophy and foundation of the Republic of Indonesia, namely Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.
The ideas and line of thought of HR Nuriana, who happened to often travel through the peak route, was interested in seeing the strategic position and natural beauty around the peak, further strengthening her strong desire to build the Rereongan Sarupi monument in the area, which is now known as the Rereongan Sarupi monument. At-Ta'awun Masjid Mosque.
Myths And Facts
In recent years, there has been a 'hoax' about a mosque marbut who is said to be the 'owner' of the Atta'awun Mosque in Puncak, Bogor. The person referred to as Ir. Ahmad is described as a simple figure who can be found by the congregation of the mosque mopping the floor of the mosque and scrubbing the toilet. Ir. Ahmad is referred to as an educated, successful person, but still simple even though he was born and grew up from among those who are not rich.
This story spread quickly and inspired many people, although in the end this story had to be straightened out, because in fact the establishment of this mosque could not be separated from the role of 50,000 family heads throughout West Java who donated money for the construction of this great mosque.
Helping, loyal friends, and mutual cooperation in goodness and piety is the meaning of 'Atta'awun' which is attached to the mosque which stands at an altitude of about 2,000 meters above sea level. Because it is at this height, it is not surprising that this mosque will be seen from Jalan Raya Puncak, long before we get there.
